Frequently Asked Questions
-
There isn’t a set number that is right for everyone.
How frequently you come, and for how long, will depend on what you are seeking help with, how long it has been present and how you respond to treatment.
Following your initial consultation, I’ll discuss what I think is a reasonable approach. We’ll review your progress together rather than automatically continuing treatment for a predetermined number of sessions.
There is never any obligation to commit to a course of treatment.
-
Everyone responds differently.
Some people notice changes after their first treatment, while for others the response is more gradual. Changes may also be noticed in areas such as sleep, energy or general wellbeing alongside the symptom that initially brought you for treatment.
We’ll regularly review how you’re responding so that your treatment can be adapted where necessary.

Loose, comfortable clothing is ideal and often makes it easier to access acupuncture points.
Depending on the points being used, I may occasionally ask you to remove or adjust some clothing. You will always be appropriately covered with a blanket or gown, and your privacy, comfort and dignity will of course, be respected throughout your treatment.

There will be time to talk at the beginning of your appointment so I can understand how you’ve been and anything that has changed. Once treatment begins, however, I encourage you to relax, switch off and allow yourself some quiet time.
There’s no expectation to keep talking. Some people prefer to chat a little, while others become quiet or fall asleep.

Initial consultation (75–90 mins) £65
Follow-up treatment (45–60 mins) £65
Student £45
Children £45
The fee is for your treatment rather than a fixed amount of time or number of needles. Each appointment is tailored to you, so some treatments may be longer or shorter, involve more time talking, or use more or fewer needles.
-
Not necessarily. Acupuncture isn’t about using as many needles as possible.
Some treatments may involve only a small number of carefully selected points, while others may use more. The number of needles will depend on your individual treatment plan and how you are presenting that day.
More needles don’t mean a better treatment. The aim is to use what is appropriate for you.

You don’t need to arrive with a diagnosis.
Some people come with a specific condition or symptom. Others simply know that they haven’t been feeling quite themselves - perhaps they’re tired, overwhelmed, struggling with sleep or living with persistent discomfort.
Chinese medicine has its own diagnostic framework. During your first consultation, I’ll ask about your main concerns as well as your wider health, sleep, digestion, energy, emotional wellbeing and other aspects that may seem unrelated. I’ll also use traditional diagnostic methods, including looking at your tongue and feeling your pulse.
Together, this helps me build a picture of what may be out of balance from a Chinese medicine perspective and create an individual treatment plan for you.
You don’t need to know what’s wrong before you come in. Working that out is part of the process.
